Meet the Artist

For more than two decades, Martyn has painted his way to becoming one of Cornwall's most successful artists. Over twenty years ago, he opened his own gallery in the charming seaside town of Port Isaac, where he continues to create stunning works that captivate his audience.

Martyn's artistic journey began with a deep dive into contemporary abstract painting at the renowned St Ives School of Art and Porthminster Studios. He hasn't stopped there, however. Driven by an insatiable creative spirit, he recently embarked on a three-year exploration of fine art at the prestigious D'arte Toscanella school in Florence.

This dedication to pushing his boundaries and honing his skills shines through in his art. Each piece is a testament to his passion, growth, and mastery.

In 1998, the esteemed Mrs. Redgrave took the artist under her wing at the renowned The New Craftsmen Gallery in St Ives. This pivotal moment launched his career, granting him the opportunity to exhibit alongside the very artists who had ignited his creative spark: Sir Terry Frost, Matthew Lanyon, John Miller, and Patrick Heron.

Drawn by the allure of Cornwall's artistic legacy, the artist relocated to Zennor four years ago. His current studio space, nestled in this captivating region, pulsates with the echoes of the pre-war Modern Contemporary Art movement that once flourished here. Inspired by the area's rich artistic heritage, he continues to create, his brushstrokes echoing the whispers of past masters while forging his unique path
